Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Description

This four-movement work was composed for the
Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet Symphony Brass Quintet.
It was composed as a commission from the Georgia Council
for the Arts (1994) as winner of the “Individual Artist” grant.
After discussing the proposal with ASBQ’s musical director,
tubist Michael Moore, “we decided to add piano to the quintet
to make it a little interesting.” This is the third of three quintets
composed by McLean for the ASBQ.

Each movement of the work coincides with the respective part
of the old wedding adage “Something old, something new,” etc.
A more detailed description, as well as sample recordings from
each movement, is available on the Carl Fischer Music
webpage where you may also purchase the piece.
