Music educator Greg McLean has been teaching since 1975. He began tutoring trumpet students at a local Atlanta area music store while still attending Georgia State University. Greg continues to take a handful of private trumpet, composition and arranging students to this day. During graduate school at Florida State University, McLean directed the Jazz Ensemble III as a non-compensated graduate assistant. According to Greg, “I did it simply to gain the experience as I expected to use the knowledge professionally one day.” Since 1988, Greg McLean has taught on the college level, first as an adjunct professor of jazz studies at Georgia State University, now as a tenured Associate Professor of Music at Perimeter College where he teaches: music theory, trumpet, music appreciation, jazz history and jazz ensemble.
